Glacier National Park Updates
What to Expect From a 2021 Park Visit
With national parks more popular than ever and things still a bit out of the ordinary, here’s what you need to keep in mind when traveling in and around Glacier National Park this year.
There will be an online ticketed reservation system to enter the park at West Glacier, St. Mary and Camas Road from May 28 through September 6. You’ll need to reserve your entry ticket online and also secure a Park Pass. Find more information here.
There will also be road construction in and just outside the park this year. This includes U.S. highways 2 and 89, as well as extensive work on Many Glacier Road. Expect delays, and read more about it here.
Glacier National Park Shuttles, Red Bus Tours, Sun Tours and Glacier Park Boat Company will likely be operating this year, but at a reduced capacity. Please plan ahead in terms of arrangements and ticketing.
There is a shortage of rental cars nationwide this season, and in-park lodging is filling up fast. Be sure to make reservations in advance. Also, have an alternate plan in place outside the park in the event that the park is congested. You’ll find plenty of world-class recreation, arts and culture, dining, breweries and distilleries, farmers markets and family fun in Western Montana’s Glacier Country. Please plan ahead, pack your mask, and recreate responsibly. (Face masks are required in all buildings on federal lands and outside in situations where appropriate social distancing is not possible.)
