Glacier Country Corridors to Visit This Fall
Recreate Responsibly in Autumn’s Abundance
It’s hard to compete with a scenic drive…unless you take a scenic drive in autumn. Our rural travel corridors offer some of the best fall driving in Western Montana, combined with adventure-filled communities and outdoor recreation, like hiking, biking and fishing.
In the East Glacier Corridor, experience the culture and traditions of the Blackfeet Nation. Explore sites along the Lewis and Clark Trail, plus hiking, a brewery and the giant penguin in Cut Bank. Bonus: Huckleberry dessert from Johnson's of St. Mary or Two Sisters Café before they close in late September.
Visit, Montana’s year-round playground, the Seeley Swan Corridor. The lushly forested Seeley Swan Scenic Drive offers a jaw-dropping autumn landscape, and a kayaking trip on Seeley, Placid or Salmon Lake is pure gold this time of year. Bonus: The must-see storybook village of Bigfork at the northern end of the corridor.
The Bitterroot Valley boasts Old West charm and multiple fishing access sites. You’ll also find canyons to hike and trails to bike, plus breweries, cideries, coffee shops, dining and local shopping. Bonus: Kootenai Canyon is the perfect out-and-back fall hike.
As always, please plan ahead, play it safe and recreate responsibly. Also be prepared for all kinds of weather in the fall—pack layers! |
